Rome

Rome rewards slow walks through ancient ruins, baroque squares, and neighbourhood trattorias. Connect the Colosseum, Roman Forum, Pantheon, and Vatican while noticing the city’s everyday street life.

Ancient Rome

Visit the Colosseum, Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill as one cluster, ideally with a timed ticket before the warmest part of the day. From there, continue to the Capitoline Hill for a broad view over the Forum and a useful pause between major sites.

Vatican and Baroque Rome

Reserve the Vatican Museums ahead and allow time for St. Peter’s Basilica and the surrounding streets of Prati. On another walk, connect Piazza Navona, the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, and the Spanish Steps early or late, when the centre feels less crowded.

Piazzas and mealtimes

Rome is best when the schedule has gaps: stop for coffee at the bar, linger in Trastevere, or climb the Aventine for quieter views. Restaurants often open later for dinner, so use the early evening for an aperitivo and keep a little cash for small purchases.
